Ready to Write™ Stage 1 provides a foundation in reading and writing continuous text and teaches students how to recognise and access the meaning of words in a text. Learning how written language is organised and developing basic skills and strategies that allow children to engage in the act of reading and writing help establish lifelong reading and writing habits. The Stage 1 programme uses fiction and non-fiction books and texts to model styles of writing, and guides children in composing their own ideas.

Ready to Write™ Stage 2 programme enriches the learners' ability to draw upon and develop experiences to better communicate their ideas in writing. Through the use of fiction and non-fiction books and text, students are encouraged to expand their reading and writing capabilities. The programme uses oral language discussion to question, criticise and describe feelings and opinions in order to organise and encourage independent writing.
