Description
The primary aims of Stage 1 are to build the child’s confidence in being able to speak and listen to English and to provide the child with a strong foundation in pre-reading skills and developing vocabulary.

- Develop their ability to listen with increasing attention and recall - Use vocabulary and forms of speech in group discussions that they have learned from the stories - Question why events occurred in the story and give their own reasons and ideas for them - By the end of Stage 1, students should be able to describe main story events, settings and the principal characters.
