Description
Stage 3 continues to build confidence in the child’s ability in speaking and listening to English and develops the confidence of the young reader through longer texts with fun and more complex plots. Accompanying activities ensure the child’s understanding.

Skill Focus
- Recognise the common words from within the story and in various other contexts - Notice that words begin with capital letters when used in names and at the beginning of sentences - Recognise full stops, question marks and exclamation marks at the end of sentences - Use vocabulary and forms of speech that they have learned from the stories during group discussions - By the end of Stage 3, students should be able to feel confident when reading a story, and seek less adult support than before.
