Roy Rolloda | Head of Department, Performing Arts

Roy mentors and trains children in singing, dancing, and acting, having taught Musical Theatre, Drama, and other Performing Arts courses for over 10 years in Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Roy’s expertise is based on years of practising professional theatre locally and internationally: he has travelled the world working for major theme parks, cruise lines, an assortment of theatre companies, and independent events companies. His love for learning stems from achieving his bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Letters, which he finished with academic distinction.

I consider teaching not only a passion, but also a divine commission in that I am given this unique responsibility of moulding the lives of many.

Hobbies: I enjoy watching movies and live theatre— anything that transports me to other worlds!

Favourite food: Pinoy spaghetti

Favourite colours: Blue

Favourite place in Hong Kong: My bedroom in Tung Chung

Favourite Kids’ Gallery memory: Every first day of school! I love seeing old students come back with a gazillion stories to tell and meeting new students who bring a fresh vibe to the class. In particular though, I remember rooting for a boy named Austin in his Open Class because he started out as a very shy and reserved kid, too scared to even say his name, and now he's got a big voice and so much confidence singing his heart out to his parents. I still keep the dolphin that he made in art class which he gave me as a thank you present.

Classes: Speech and Communication 2, Musical Theatre, including Performing Circle
